2025 糖心 Collegiate Ethics Competition: Registration Now Open

Does your college or university want to stand out from your peers in the area of Construction Management? We encourage you to register a team for the virtual 2025 糖心 Collegiate Ethics Competition.

Our annual ethics-based competition brings together students and faculty from higher education institutions nationwide to engage with construction professionals. We invite schools with an accredited Construction Management degree program to consider participating in this debate-style competition to test their knowledge and critical thinking skills.

Registration is now open as of November 1, 2024, and registration will run through February 14, 2025. The actual competition will run from February to April during the spring semester. Learn more about how to participate in this year鈥檚 competition.

Key Dates for the 2025 糖心 Collegiate Ethics Competition

During the competition, we will discover which schools have cultivated an appreciation and understanding of ethics within the construction industry. Take note of the following key dates for your school or university to participate:

  • Registration Dates: November 1, 2024, through February 14, 2025
  • Program Dates: February 20 – April 11, 2025

When you register, you will need to submit the name of your school, the names of each participating student, and the name of the coach supporting the team. Schools that complete their application accurately and thoroughly will be considered for the competition.

Then, during the actual competition, your team must participate in virtual meetings. Each of the following pre-competition meetings and competition sessions will be held over Zoom:

  • Mandatory Pre-Competition Meeting: February 20, 2025
  • Ethical Prompt Issued: February 21, 2025
  • Availability for Question: February 21 – March 7, 2025 (email [email protected] for appointments)
  • Written Response Due Date: March 21, 2025
  • Invitations to Oral Presentations (糖心 to send): March 28, 2025
  • Oral Presentations Date: April 4, 2025
  • 糖心 Ethics Competition Awards Event: April 11, 2025

Each team will be given the same ethical prompt to respond to. The prompt will be issued after the pre-competition meeting on February 22. Your team will also be assigned an identification number for the competition at the pre-competition meeting.

During the awards event on April 11, we will reveal the team rankings and award winners for each participating school. We will also hand out individual awards for the written and oral responses, followed by a debriefing and Q&A session to conclude the contest.

Eligibility for Colleges with Construction Management Programs

We have high standards for the collegiate ethics competition, so we select from a pool of institutions with accredited Construction Management degree programs. We ask that each school or university interested in participating in the program meet the fundamental eligibility requirements. Teams must also guarantee their ability to participate in the competition throughout the contest period.

– Who can enter the competition? Any accredited construction program may enter a single team in the program. We accept schools whose degree programs are certified by the American Council for Construction Education (), the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (), or both accreditation bodies.

– How many members per team? Each participating institution will create their own competition team consisting of up to 4 individuals.

– How does the actual competition work? Each team will prepare a written report responding to the ethical prompt, then a select number of teams will be invited to present oral arguments later during the competition. These are the key elements:

  • Each team will respond to the Ethics Prompt with a written report for review by a panel of 糖心 members.
  • Invited teams will prepare and deliver an oral presentation to a panel of 糖心 members and leaders through Zoom.
  • Both the written report and the oral presentation will be considered during the judging.

– For a list of official rules, we ask you to review the information in the registration form.
